Knapp Swezey Scholarship

 

 

 

President's Update to the College Community

 

Recently, I was able to extend the college’s appreciation to the Long Island Community Foundation, its Executive Director, Marie Smith, and to the Knapp-Swezey Foundation for establishing the Knapp-Swezey Scholarship. During a welcome event hosted by the Foundation, I was able to greet most of the 19 students who are now enrolled full-time at the college through this program. This scholarship targets students from the Patchogue-Medford area. As I met each one, I learned they are pursuing degree options that range from Automotive Tech, to the social sciences, to history and the arts. This scholarship has been designed to support student needs, so it doesn’t just cover tuition, but a host of wrap-around services that we know will help them achieve at the highest level. I walked away knowing that these students, who clearly have big dreams, will now be able to reach their goals thanks to the great start they will receive here at Suffolk.
