Foundation Special Events

The Suffolk Community College Foundation hosts an annual Salute to Excellence Gala that recognizes and honors our region’s business and industry leaders, community organizers and labor leaders, artists and performers, philanthropists and others who make a positive impact on our community, our college and future generations of students seeking a higher education at Suffolk County Community College.

The annual Golf Classic is a tournament sought-after by skilled golfers and duffers alike! Hundreds of golf enthusiasts and those new to the sport converge on one of Long Island’s premiere golf courses each year in support of Suffolk County Community College’s students, faculty, academic programs and student services. The Golf Classic features opportunities to win Hole-in-One cars that range from the environmentally progressive Toyota Prius hybrid, to the racy excitement of an exotic sports car like the Maserati Ghibli! The Golf Classic also features a Beat-the-Shark Competition where participants can face-off against Suffolk’s top scholar-athletes from the nationally-ranked Suffolk Sharks Golf Team.

In conjunction with Suffolk County Community College, the Foundation hosts a semi-annual Computer Sale. Surplus pre-owned computers are sold to students, faculty and staff at a deeply discounted price.  All proceeds support the Foundation’s mission of providing student scholarships, emergency student loans, and funding program development. 

Faculty Governance Awards are conferred annually to outstanding faculty recognized for their scholarship and excellence in teaching. The Foundation sponsors this annual special event through the solicitation of tax-deductible gifts from Long Island’s business community, individual philanthropic support and partnerships with private foundations and advocacy groups.
