Graduate Nurse Pinning Ceremony Tradition
A nursing pin is worn in order to identify the school from which a nurse has graduated. Pins often have a symbolic meaning, illustrating the history of the nursing program.

Please consider supporting the Class of 2026

I am pleased to share exciting news: 97% of 2025 graduating RNs and 92% of graduating PNs at our Jane F. Shearer School of Nursing passed the NCLEX!

Every one of these students received financial assistance to cover their licensure exam fees — thanks to the incredible generosity of Jane Shearer’s family and other dedicated donors.

We heard directly from our graduates that this support made a profound difference. It lifted the financial burden of paying for exams, gave them time to study, and allowed them to test earlier than they thought possible.

Today, we invite you — our valued nursing alumni — to join this impactful effort.

Every gift matters. If every alum gave just $20, we could ensure that our 2026 graduating nursing students receive the financial support they need to register for the NCLEX. Together, we can honor Jane Shearer’s legacy and expand this vital support for years to come.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to give back — and to uplift those who follow in your footsteps.

With gratitude,

Dr. Shaffer
