This year’s 40th anniversary celebration of DanceAfrica pays tribute to the music and movement traditions of Guinea, featuring two powerful ensembles that represent the diverse cultures of the African diaspora and the transformative power of movement. Members of Philadelphia's hip-hop based Illstyle & Peace Productions join with members of New York City's Forces of Nature and the drummers and dancers of Asase Yaa, performing a joyful collision of traditional and contemporary styles. Then, a master group of Guinean dancers and musicians from the New York City area present a spirited showcase of West African culture, along with special guests from the BAM/Restoration DanceYouthEnsemble.
