In 1998, Matthew Shepard’s death rocked the nation. Matthew’s parents, Judy and Dennis Shepard, in the face of their own grief, helped lead the fight to change minds and change laws to protect LGBTQ people.
In 2019, with landmark decisions on equality before the U.S. Supreme Court and an unprecedented attempt to roll back hard-fought rights on both the state and national level, SUNY Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson will join Judy and Dennis Shepard at SUNY’s 1st “Thought Leaders” event for a personal and impactful conversation about Matthew’s legacy, how far we’ve come, and all we stand to lose.
