Support the Dig Pink Event Taking Place on October 5^th to Advance Breast Cancer Awareness

The College’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics would like to cordially invite you to its annual Dig Pink fundraiser taking place on Saturday, October 5^th.  On this day, the entire college community is encouraged to wear pink and attend events taking place at the Brookhaven Gymnasium on the Ammerman Campus in Selden.

Prior to the event, Suffolk Sharks Athletics Breast Cancer Awareness T-shirts, socks, bracelets, reusable shopping bags and hats will be on sale at the Registrar’s Offices on the Ammerman and Michael J. Grant campuses, Campus Activities on the Eastern Campus and at the Athletic Department Offices on the Ammerman and Michael J. Grant campuses. Proceeds from the sale of the merchandise, as well as all donations received on Saturday, will go to the Side-Out Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness. The Side-Out Foundation was established to unite players and coaches to work toward the common goal of advancing breast cancer awareness, education and patient services. Last year, the event raised over $3,000—bringing our nine-year total to $50,473—the most of any NJCAA institution over that time period.

Cash and checks will be accepted as payment, with checks made payable to the Suffolk Community College Association. Please use the attached merchandise order form to place your order in this manner. There are numerous other ways the college community can support the October 5^th effort:

•                 There will be sports clinics and events going on throughout the day beginning at 10:00 a.m.

•                 As part of the day’s fundraising, the Athletics Department will hold a gift basket raffle in the lobby of the Brookhaven Gymnasium starting at 11:00 a.m. and concluding after the women’s volleyball matches. Winners need not be present. Gift baskets will include donations made by local businesses and restaurants

All games will be played on the Ammerman Campus in Selden:

•                 Volleyball will be playing host to the Fashion Institute of Technology and the Borough of Manhattan CC beginning at 12:00

•                 Women’s tennis is hosting Kingsborough CC at 12:00

•                 Women’s soccer will be hosting Howard CC at 1:00

•                 Men’s soccer will be hosting Queensborough CC at 3:00
