More than 200 marchers will carry lantern bags to empower survivors in the healing process and inspire responsibility in all and Amazon.com best selling author Kenia Nuez will provide opening remarks and domestic violence and sexual assault survivors’ stories, prevention programs and local information and resources will be presented at Suffolk County Community College’s Take Back The Night, Shatter the Silence and Stop the Violence program at the college’s Michael J. Grant Campus, Brentwood on Friday April 13, 2018 at 6 p.m.
Local organizations supporting the event including Sepa Mujer, Long Island Against Trafficking, VIBS, Crimes Victim Center, LGBT Network, Greater New York Paralegal Association and the Sex Crimes Unit of New York State Troopers.
The marcher’s route throughout the Grant Campus will be as follows:
- Sagtikos Theatre – Theme: Introductions & Registration
- HSEC – Theme: Dispelling the Myths/Intersectionality/ DV Statistics
- Learning Resource Center – Theme: Resources / Education about Prevention
- Captree Commons – Theme: Mental Health/Reflection /Food
