Please join SUNY Suffolk's Center for Social Justice and Human Understanding, the Office of Campus Activities and Multicultural Affairs, the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs, and the Black/African-American Student Success Taskforce for part two of the virtual Town Hall series, "Advocacy and Empowerment 101: Protest to Progress." Scheduled for Monday, July 13, 2020, from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m., this Town Hall will provide students the opportunity to dialogue with Ms. Geraldine Hart, Suffolk County Police Department (SCPD) Commissioner and representatives from the SCPD regarding the events surrounding George Floyd, law enforcement and policing in Suffolk County, the current efforts in New York and across the nation regarding police reform and much more. Students are encouraged to come with questions for the Commissioner, as both SUNY Suffolk and SCPD are looking to have effective, productive and transparent dialogue.
We look forward to seeing and hearing from you at this important Town Hall. Please feel free to contact Ms. Jill Santiago, Executive Director, Center for Social Justice at Human Understanding at santiaj@sunysuffolk.edu, if you have any questions or would like to RSVP for this meeting.
